One for philosophers
Mark Lynas (who appears to be a bit of a loony) came up with the excellent quote - "If it wasn't uncertian, it wouldn't be science" - which is definitly true (see my old post here).
However - is the converse true? Ie, if something is uncertain - does that make it science? My predicate logic just isn't up to prooving that kind of thing these days...
